On the way to a job in Qatar I stopped off for a few days in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The heat was oppresive especially down at the humid coast of Dubai. Up at the desert city of Al Ain the mercury rose to 47 but the air was bone dry. The UAE provided its usual fascinating and bizarre contrasts including a timeless camel market and an aquarium with the largest window in the world.
